UK to Change Radically by 2030

UK to Change Radically Due to Brexit and Population

UK to change radically according to the Institute for Public Policy Research (PPR). They say these changes will occur as the result of Brexit, population changes, and robots taking over the jobs currently performed by humans. The report said there would be a Brexit “aftershock” and that the UK’s exit from the EU would be “the firing gun on a decade of disruption.”

UK to Change Partly Due to the “Profound Shock”

UK to change after Brexit has left a “profound shock.” The shock is what will make major changes to the UK’s political and economic order. It is predicted that the result will see the country on a path of permanently lower growth and living standards. It is predicted that the people aged 65 and over will rise by a third by the end of the next decade. This will cause new strains on the state which will significantly increase the funding gap for adult social care. The end result would lead to an increase in the UK’s deficit. Another frightening prediction is that two-thirds of current jobs, approximately 15 million, will be at risk due to new technologies such as artificial intelligence systems.

The report states, “Without reform, our political and social system will struggle to build a more democratic, healthy society in the decades ahead, even as Brexit accelerates us towards a radically different institutional landscape.”

But the government reiterated its commitment to making a success of Brexit and saying, “the UK was forecast to be the fastest-growing major advanced economy.” A spokesman added, “While there may be challenges ahead, we approach them from a position of strength.”
