Queen Elizabeth Remains Indoors for 10th Day From Bad Cold

Queen Elizabeth Continues to Battle Cold

Queen Elizabeth, as reported by Buckingham Palace, remains inside for the tenth consecutive day as she continues to battle a cold. The Palace was also forced to respond to a spoof BBC news account that tweeted, “BREAKING: Buckingham Palace announces the death of Queen Elizabeth ll at the age of 90. Circumstances are unknown. More to follow.” The account was suspended, however, not before social media users began speculating that a “media blackout” was covering up the news until it could be reported properly at 8am. Actions were taken to inform the people that her Majesty had not passed.

Queen Elizabeth Will Participate in Some Activities

The Queen was not able to attend the annual Christmas Day church service at Sandringham in Norfolk. This marked the first time she had missed the service. The Palace reported, “The Queen continues to recover from a heavy cold and will stay indoors to assist with her recovery. Her Majesty will participate in the Royal Family Christmas celebrations during the day.”

Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas speech went ahead as planned. Her annual message had been prerecorded at Buckingham Palace. The message was to pay tribute to “ordinary people doing extraordinary things.”

Her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, also continues to recover from a bad cold. However, he was able to attend two services. He was joined by Prince Harry and Charles.
