National Dress Up Your Pet Day, January 14

National Dress Up Your Pet Day

National Dress Up Your Pet Day is celebrated on January 14. Since pets become such a central part of any family, this day was created to help every dog, cat, monkey, and so forth to have a special day. It is also a great way to support pet fashion in your community.

Tips for Dressing Up Your Pet

The most important thing to remember about dressing your pet is this: if your pet doesn’t like to dress up then don’t force it on your animal. Simply let him/her set it out while s/he enjoys all of the new outfits being debuted in the neighborhood.

You must always make sure your outfit is the right size for your pet. This can be a serious issue because if the clothing is so tight it restricts movement, or the ability to breathe, this can cause a serious injury or illness to your pet.

It is important to make certain the outfit does not have dangling parts. For example, if the animal’s shirt has a long string hanging down this might cause the animal to focus on this and begin to chew. The string might actually cause the animal to choke or have some type of reaction.

Celebrity Pet Lifestyle Expert and Animal Behaviorist, Colleen Paige founded National Dress Up Your Pet Day in 2009. Some cities offer pet parades. Some group offer pet parties. Whatever you decide to do, just remember this is a special day for your pet.
