Melania Trump Lives Life Her Way in the White House

Melania Trump

First Lady Melania Trump celebrated a milestone in her life this year as she turned 50 years old. The wife of the president continues to maintain her beauty. At birth, she was given the name Melanija Knavs, born in Novo Mesto, Yugoslavia. She is only the second first lady, after Louisa Adams, wife of John Quincy Adams, born outside the United States.

The Early Years Of Melania Trump

During her early years, her father was a car salesman while her mother worked in the textile industry. She grew up in a modest apartment in a housing block. The family later moved to a two-story house in Sevnica, where she attended a Secondary School of Design and Photography. Melania attended the University of Ljublijana for one year, where she studied architecture and design. She left to pursue a career in modeling even after she had her first catwalk when she was just five years old. In Slovenia, she found success in her new career. She then changed her name to Melania Knauss and became a successful model in Milan and Paris. The Paolo Zampolli’s modeling agency took her to New York in 1996. During her career, the first lady was featured on the front covers of different magazines. In 2000 she was a model for Sports Illustrated in their popular swimsuit edition.

Melania Trump Meets Her Future Husband

Two years after arriving in New York, she met Donald Trump at a fashion industry party in the city. During this time, he was married to Marla Maples from whom he divorced in 1999. Melania and Trump married on January 22, 2005, at his estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Melania wore a $200,000 wedding dress, which reportedly took more than 1,000 hours to complete. A reception was held at Mar-a-Lago estate. It was her first time to be married and his third time. In 2006 Melania gave birth to their first and only child together, Barron William Trump. It was Donald’s fifth child. Melania Trump has always been a hands-on mother when raising Barron. She does not have a nanny. She said, “I have a chef, and I have my assistant, and that’s it. I do it myself. You know, those hours with your child are really important ones.” In 2013 she said the couple would not have another child. She remarked, “We are happy, and my hands are full with my two boys – my big boy and my little boy!” During that same year, Melania became a citizen of the United States. She continued modeling occasionally and also marketed a line of jewelry that was sold by the QVC company. She also created a caviar-based line of skincare products.

Melania Trump Is Her Own Person

Melania Trump prefers to avoid the spotlight. Surprisingly she does it quite well. Perhaps because of this, she remains somewhat of a secretive first lady, although she is, at the same time, a very interesting personality. As First Lady, she has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the American Red Cross and as a member of the Police Athletic League.

In case you have ever wondered, the first lady has a Secret Service name. It is “Muse.” She is one of the tallest First Ladies standing at 5-foot 11. Melania is also the first naturalized U.S. citizen to be in her role and the only one born in a communist country.
