Nube Viajera Dies of a “Broken Heart”
Dog dies of a “broken heart” after being dumped at an airport by her owner. The dog was called “Nube Viajera” or, Wandering Cloud by the vets who treated her. Wandering Cloud spent a month searching the terminal at Palonegro Airport near Bucaramanga, Columbia – in hopes of being reunited with her owner.
She Sniffed People Hoping to Find Her Owner
Witnesses said she sniffed people at the airport but eventually gave up her search. She then found a corner of the terminal where she stayed alone, seldom moving from the spot. She eventually stopped eating although passengers and workers offered her food. Vets said the dog was no more than two years old.
Alejandro Sotomonte Nino, a vet from the Columbian Animal Protection Foundation said, “Apparently, during the first month that the dog was at the airport, it was going through the halls looking for someone. That state of waiting deteriorated her health.”
Wandering Cloud became severely malnourished. She was then taken to a shelter after someone alerted an animal rescue group. However, the once healthy dog had become so weak she could barely stand.
Vets worked non-stop giving food and medicine via intravenous injections. Sadly, the dog’s health continued to deteriorate further. The vets reported she expressed major sadness and depression before dying.
