Academy Awards to be Held Sunday Night

Academy Awards Winners to be Announced

Academy Awards will be held this Sunday at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, CA. The show will be offered by ABC and is set to begin at 8:30 pm ET. This year the host will be Jimmy Kimmel. This will be his first time to host the Oscars which will present for the 89th year.

Top Names will Appear at the Oscars

Some of the award presenters include Leonardo DiCaprio, Halle Berry and Amy Adams. Performers will include Sting, Justin Timberlake, and John Legend. Some of the performers, when in front of the microphone, are expected to make political speeches – not because they are forced to but because they want to. It’s a political time. Best Song nominee, Lin-Manuel Miranda told The Hollywood Reporter, “Why should we ignore for three hours what we’re talking about 24 hours a day?”

One of the movies which will be closely evaluated will be “La La Land.” The movie tied with “Titanic” and “All About Eve” as the most nominated movie ever. Although it is not expected to win the 14 Oscars it is up for it is expected to win a fair share of the awards.

Another addition this year is the number of people of color who have been nominated for awards – unlike last year and the year before when none were nominated in the four acting categories.

Eyes will also be on Kevin O’Connell. He has been nominated for Best Sound Mixing for “Hacksaw Ridge.” He presently holds the record for the most Oscar nominations, with 20, without ever winning. Perhaps this will be his year.

  1. I enjoy you because of your entire effort on this site. My mom delights in going through internet research and it is easy to understand why. Most of us learn all of the dynamic ways you provide important suggestions on this web site and as well as encourage participation from others on this subject so our child is certainly starting to learn a lot of things. Take advantage of the remaining portion of the year. You are always conducting a remarkable job.
