Five Biggest TV Networks Will Have an “Off The Record” Meeting With Trump Today
ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and Fox News have been invited to attend an “off the record” meeting today with President-elect Donald Trump. Such names as Lester Holt, Wolf Blitzer, Erin Burnett, and Gayle King are some of the guests invited according to organizer Kellyanne Conway, now a senior adviser to Trump. The contents of the meeting will not be divulged.
It is not a secret that Trump frequently attacked the press during his election campaign. This leaves a lot for the group to discuss. Although Trump has relationships with many in the TV business, he also waged an anti-media crusade during the campaign. Some of the questions the news people have will be the level of press access he will provide as well as if he will have a traveling “press pool” and regular news conferences.
In the past, most presidents-elects offer a news conference within days following an election. It has been nearly two weeks since Trump was elected and he has not offered such a platform to reporters. Over the weekend he did answer some questions that were shouted at him from reporters. The president-elect was also interviewed on “60 Minutes,” the CBS newsmagazine.
