Trump’s First Full-Day in Office
Trump’s first day in office – President Donald Trump has told Americans that he will act quickly during his first full day as president. He started his first full day by attending a national church service, with his wife Melania, at Washington Cathedral. Trump then visited the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Although his nomination for leader of the department, Mike Pompeo, has not yet been confirmed, Trump’s choice visited the headquarters with him. It was believed that he would receive close scrutiny because of the negative comments he has made about the reliability of intelligence following the publication of the so-called “dirty dossier” about him.
During his campaign President Trump made several promises he would keep on his first day in the Oval Office – he announced tomorrow will be his first day so these possibilities are still possible. He said he would begin deporting illegal immigrants who have criminal records. “We will begin moving them out, day one.” My first hour in office, those people are gone.” This is what he told a cheering campaign rally in Phoenix. He also promised to suspend immigration from “terror-prone countries: and impose “extreme vetting” on others.” He said he would “immediately end” Mr Obama’s policy of protecting undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as young children. He also pledged his intention to withdraw or renegotiate from the North America Free Trade Agreement and to abandon the pursuit of the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
During his inauguration ceremony, last Friday, he again said he would “put America first.” He added, “From this moment on, it’s going to be America First. We will follow two simple rules: Buy American and hire American.”
He has a full-calendar for his first day in office. It hasn’t happened so far – perhaps tomorrow, Monday, he will complete his promises.
