‘The Conservatives are Going to go Crazy’
Steve Bannon, President-elect Donald Trump’s top advisor, said the new administration will build a new political movement, one greater than the “Reagan revolution,” according to a report from the “The Hollywood Reporter.” Bannon’s vision is an America focused entirely on jobs, even comparing it to Andrew Jackson’s populism.
Bannon said, “The conservatives are going to go crazy. I’m the guy pushing a trillion-dollar infrastructure plan. With negative interest rates throughout the world, it’s the greatest opportunity to rebuild everything. Ship yards, iron works, get them all jacked up. We’re just going to throw it up against the wall and see if it sticks. It will be as exciting as the 1930’s, greater than the Reagan revolution – conservatives, plus populists, in an economic nationalist movement.”
The Democrats oppose Bannon’s appointment. They say he is a spokesman for the “alt-right” movement and that he has been associated with white nationalism and anti-Semitism.
Bannon, editor of the Breitbart News Network, is probably the most powerful person on the White House team, according to THR. It is rare to ever see Trump, in public, without being dressed in a designer suit and tie; however, Bannon is often seen in his T-shirt, tatty blue blazer, and some type of shoe Trump would probably never look at, let alone purchase.
Even so, Bannon has been appointed with a huge task. THR suggests, if Trumpism is to represent something intellectually and historically coherent, it’s Bannon’s job to make it so. There is no doubt about his intellectual abilities which he will desperately need in the coming four years.
