Trump Promises His Obamacare Replacement to Cover All
Trump promises his Obamacare replacement plan will cover everybody, he told The Washington Post. His plan will require that drug companies negotiate directly with Medicare and Medicaid and lower their prices, saying they will no longer be “politically protected.”
Trump is Waiting for His Health Secretary to be Confirmed
The President-elect did not give details of how he will accomplish the major changes he is proposing. He said he is waiting for Tom Price, his health secretary nominee, to be confirmed. Price’s hearing before the crucial Senate Finance Committee has yet to be announced.
Last Friday The House followed the Senate in approving a budget resolution that would repeal major portions of the Affordable Care Act. Both chambers will now work out the details of repealing and replacing the law. The Republicans have threatened to repeal Obamacare for nearly seven years. Now they are fractured over how to actually go about doing it. Although Trump is making some big promises he insists his insurance reform will cover more people and cost less money. “We’re going to have insurance for everybody,” he told The Washington Post. He added, “They can expect to have great health care. It will be in a much simplified form. Much less expensive and much better.”
