Three Bodies Discovered on Suspected Killer’s Property
Forty-five year old real estate agent and sex offender, Todd Kohlhepp is being held for the murder of three bodies found on his property. He is now associated with seven bodies although he has not confessed to the other murders. The sex offender is also being charged with chaining 30-year-old Kala Brown inside a storage shed on his property. Her boyfriend, Charles Carver’s body was recovered late last week.
Presently Kohlhepp has been charged with four counts of murder and one case of kidnapping. He has not yet been charged with Carver’s death. Lt. Kevin Bobo, spokesman for the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, said that other charges against him are likely. Bobo said the suspected murder has been denied bond. His next court date is set for January 19, 2017. Although Kohlhepp previously asked for an attorney Bobo said he believes the man is presently representing himself.
Bobo said he believes all of the bodies have been found on the property. “As we stand here tonight, we feel like there aren’t any more bodies on the property.” He went on to say that the majority of the property has been searched although investigators returned today to make certain that nothing was missed. It was also noted that the search for bodies has been extended beyond the suspected killer’s property to other locations that are linked to him although the locations have not been identified. Sheriff Chuck Wright chose not to discuss locations of where investigators are searching although he said it is widespread and extends outside of South Carolina.
