Terrorist Attack at the London Parliament
Terrorist attack in London results in the UK Houses of Parliament being put on lockdown. Although figures vary the latest reports list four people dead and 20 victims suffering from ‘catastrophic injuries.’ It is known that one attacker drove his car into a number of pedestrians. This resulted in a dozen injured people. Next the driver crashed into the perimeter fence on Westminster Bridge. The attacker then left his car and began attacking police offices. He stabbed to death at least one officer.
Terrorist Attack Causes Havoc in the UK
The attacker was shot and killed. Witnesses described him as an “Asian guy” in his mid-40’s. In Europe, “Asian” often refers to someone of Indian or Pakistani ancestry. One witness reported the attacker was carrying a knife about seven or eight inches in length. Witnesses made a video of the car used in the assault.
London police has confirmed that the attack is being treated as a “terrorist incident.”
Members, visitors and others inside the Parliament were urged to stay inside. Prime Minister Theresa May was immediately evacuated.
Although not confirmed, David Lidington, the leader of parliament’s lower House of Commons, reported, “There are also reports of further violent incidents in the vicinity of the Palace of Westminster. He reported that he could not go into further detail until there was further confirmation from the police and security authorities.
President Donald Trump was briefed on the incident and described it as “big news.”
