Stores Will Open Later Than Usual on Thanksgiving
According to TheBlackFriday.com list, there will be about 30 national stores opening on Thanksgiving Day, November 24. Instead of the usual 8, 9, and 10 am openings most of the stores will open at 3, 4 pm or later. Other stores, such as Macy’s, Best Buy and Toys R Us will let their customers in beginning at 5 pm while stores, such as Kohl’s will open an hour later at 6 pm. It seems like Black Friday is starting to become Pre-Black Friday as more and more stores are opening on Thanksgiving Day.
While Thanksgiving Day is traditionally a day for families to spend the day together and celebrate in ways they choose, the temptation to get those early sales is overwhelmingly tempting to some of the stores. While some stores will remain closed, those opening at a later time are doing so in order to allow employees to spend the special day with their families. BestBlackFriday.com has a list including more than 50 national retailers who will keep their doors closed on the traditional turkey day. A few of these stores include Gamestop, Home Depot, Costco, Nordstrom and TJ Maxx.
Only the years ahead will determine how long some of the stores will remain closed the entire day, while more and more decide to open late on turkey day. Chances are, the more stores opening, in the future, on Thanksgiving Day, will cause the competition to start opening earlier and earlier. Many people can remember those days when Thanksgiving sales was a “no no.” No store would dare be open on this special day.
