President Pledges Bold Promises
President pledges a bold agenda which includes rebuilding America’s military, ridding of the “vile enemy” known as ISIS and a massive tax relief for the middle class. He also vowed to repeal and replace Obamacare. When the President discussed Obamacare House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi shook her head as he criticised the law she helped to introduce. President Trump offered few details on the new healthcare plan.
President Condemned Recent Hate Crimes
President Trump condemned the recent attacks and threats against the Jewish Community Centres and the hate crime in Kansas in which an Indian man was killed. He emphasized the importance of civil rights and the need to unite against “hate and evil in all its forms.”
The President listed his achievements during his first days in office. These included executive orders to reduce regulations, resuming oil and gas pipeline construction, new lobbying restrictions and a crackdown on illegal immigration.
President Trump’s first address to Congress may be recalled for what he did not do opposed to what he did. This list includes the fact he did not once again review the election results. He also said few negative things about the media or discussing the “fake news.” And, the President did not call anyone names. Instead he presented an optimistic message for the future. He promised that when America celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2026, “we will look back on tonight as when this new chapter of American Greatness began.”
