No “Fire and Fury” for North Korea?
No “Fire and Fury” for North Korea? No more nicknames, such as “Little Rocket Man,” for Kim Jong-un? Is President Donald Trump changing his position on North Korea? It seems he is taking a different approach by saying he is open to diplomatic efforts to resolve the current crisis and the standoff with North Korea.
Trump is Urging Pyongyang to Come to the Table
During his trip to Asia the President is urging Pyongyang to come to the table and make a deal in regards to the isolated countries’ missile program. He told a joint press conference, with South Korea’s president, Moon Jae-in that the US is making progress in resolving the nuclear issue. He said, “I think we’re making progress…I do see certain movement, yes, but let’s see what happens.
President Trump said, “It makes sense for North Korea to come to the table and to make a deal that’s good for the people of North Korea.” Trump chose not to give a specific update on recent developments over the North’s nuclear program. He said he prefers to “play our cards close to the vest.”
Reaction From North Korea
The “Rodong Sinmun” newspaper, the main rsource for the ruling Workers party in North Korea, reported, “As long as the US and its followers continue their hostile acts against us, we will further bolster our nuclear, treasured sword of justice.”
