President-elect Trump’s Wife and Son May Stay in Manhattan
The New York Post has reported that Melania Trump and son, Barron Trump will continue living at Trump Tower in Manhattan. They will apparently travel to Washington DC when needed.
A source close to the transition team told the Post that Melania and the 10-year-old Barron are extremely close. The source says, “They have become closer during the campaign. The campaign has been difficult for Barron and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum.”
Barron, who attends school in the Upper West Side, is regularly picked him up by his mother at the end of his day. He will need to be driven to school in an armored vehicle. Each morning a team of security agents will need to check to make certain the school is safe.
Continued heightened security around the Trump Tower will most likely need to be continued. This is due to the crowds of supporters, protesters, television crews and police which have been present since the recent election. The building has been described as difficult to secure as members of the public can walk in and out as they please.
There has been only one president who did not live full-time at the White House. That was George Washington. He had a good reason as he selected the site for the building and then approved its design. The Times reported last week that President-elect Trump discussed the number of nights a week he would have to spend in Washington DC with his advisers. During the campaign he frequently flew back to Manhattan so that he could wake up in his own bed.
