Linda Wolfe

Linda Wolfe got married for the first time when she was 16 years old. Her husband was 31. She always said it was for love. Her last marriage was in 1996, and she openly admitted it was for publicity when she married Glynn “Scotty” Wolfe, a preacher. He was the world’s most married man. During those years, she was married to a variety of men including a convict, a homeless man, a musician, and a plumber. She married one of the men three times. One of her husbands she left after just three days of marriage.

Holds Record For Most Marriages
The Indiana woman married 23 times, making her the holder of the Guinness World Record as the woman most married in history. And, she wanted to marry again. The publicity stunt she created by marrying Baptist minister Wolfe was his final marriage after tying the knot 29 times. One week following the marriage, his wife, Linda, returned to her hometown in Indiana. She kept her married name. The minister died shortly before his 89th birthday. He had approximately 100 children. Even so, his body went unclaimed. Eventually, he was buried in Los Angeles. None of the 29 women he had married attended the service. Only one of his 100 children went to his service.

Her First And Longest Marriage
Linda Wolfe admitted she could not list all of her husbands in the correct order. However, she did remember that the nicest and longest was her marriage to George Scott. The marriage lasted for seven years. Her best lover was the marriage to Jack Gourley. He enjoyed impromptu trysts. She married him three times. She was the stepmother of many children. She gave birth to seven of her own children with different husbands. She has now been single for 12 years. This is the longest stint of her being unmarried since she was a child. She said, “I would get married again. You know, it gets lonely.” She gave this advice: “just get married the once and stay married. I have not had a bed of roses, believe me.”

“Unique Husbands”
Linda was married to a one-eyed inmate. She also was married to two different gay men. Two others were homeless. Some of the husbands cheated on her. One choked her and turned her lip inside out. Still, another secured the fridge with padlock and chain. Since her last husband, she has not dated, and she has not kissed a man.

No More Husbands
Linda was a resident at the Anderson Retirement Home for several years. She wanted to be married at least one more time. However, the 69-year-old died alone at the retirement home.
