Ivanka Trump Earned More Than $1 Million From the Hotel
Ivanka Trump received a new title this week, Assistant to the President. She is in the process of setting up her staff and office in the West Wing of the White House. She continues to face conflict of interest issues as she has for months. First it was one of her own designer dresses, then it was her bracelet, now it is the Trump International Hotel Washington, D.C. Her husband, Jared Kushner, filed a 54-page document yesterday offering financial details of the couple. It reveals that Ivanka earned between $1 million and $5 million from January 2016 to March, 2017 from the hotel. It has been reported that she owns between $5 million and $25 million in the investment. According to the New York Times the couple’s combined business assets are valued at $741 million.
Business Holdings Cause Ethical Concerns
The vast Trump family fortunes continue to raise ethical concerns about how the president, Ivanka, and Jared can fairly serve the interests of the public as they remain private business owners looking out for their own huge operations.
The Times reported that Ivanka will keep a stake in the hotel in Washington D.C. The property has been an issue since the president took office. It has frequently drawn protests from ethics experts who are concerned that foreign governments or special interests could stay there in order to curry favor with the administration. Previously Ivanka combined her fashion brand in the Ivanka M. Trump Business Trust. The trust is overseen by her brother-in-law, Josh Kushner and sister-in-law, Nicole Meyer. The documents released on Friday valued the trust at more than $50 million.
