Hillary Clinton Attacks Trump in Speech
Hillary Clinton gives scorching speech as a commencement address at Wellesley College today. Seemingly entertaining the graduates at her alma mater she appeared to be as bright and alert as always and she never used President Donald Trump’s name one time . The stinging rebuke to Trump’s policies and governing style she emphasized the dangers of creeping authoritarianism which includes an “all-out assault on truth, mind control and alternative facts.” At one point she used the word “impeachment.”
Clinton told the graduating class, “When people in power invent their own facts and attack those who question them, it can mark the beginning of the end of a free society. This is not hyperbole. It is what authoritarian regimes throughout history have done. They attempt to control reality, not just our laws and our rights and our budgets, but our thoughts and beliefs.”
Opposed to the guarded and carefully scripted presidential candidate last year, the speech made it clear that Clinton will return to public life as the kind of outspoken activist who attended Wellesley 48 years ago. Aside from other engagements she will be able to promote her thoughts and beliefs via her recently formed political nonprofit group, “Onward Together.” The major purpose of the group is intended to counter Trump and his policies.
She told the graduates, at the private women’s college, to not give up. She said, “It’s often during the darkest times when you can do the most good.”
