George H.W. Bush Sends Letter to Trump
Due to his health problems, the former president had not expected to attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald J. Trump on Friday. Instead, Bush sent a letter to Trump apologizing for missing the ceremony. Bush wrote that he and his wife Barbara, “wish you the very best as you begin this incredible journey of leading our country. My doctor says if I sit outside in January, it likely will put me six feet under. Same for Barbara. So I guess we’re stuck in Texas.”
Several years ago Bush revealed that he was suffering from a form of Parkinson’s disease. This disability has left him unable to walk. The former president uses a wheelchair or scooter for mobility. He suffered from two other health scares in 2014 and 2015.
The various health issues Bush has experienced during the last few years have kept the 92-year-old out of the public spotlight, and he seldom makes public remarks.
