FBI Director Will Testify Before a House Committee
FBI Director James Comey will testify tomorrow regarding his knowledge of the Russian activities during the recent presidential campaign as well as whether President Trump was wiretapped.
Justice Department Gives Requested Information
On Friday the Justice Department gave the House intelligence committee information they had requested about President Trump’s claim of being wiretapped during the presidential election. The FBI Director has offered little publicl comment about the issue. This has resulted in some congressional lawmakers to accuse him of stonewalling them.
The US intelligence community has basically concluded that Russia interfered in the presidential campaign. This involved computer emails from the Democratic National Committee and related to the campaign of Hillary Clinton resulting in stolen emails which were made public.
California Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, the committee chairman refused to say what information was received. However, he told “Fox News Sunday” that he still does not have evidence that Trump Tower was wiretapped by the Obama administration. Nunes also said, “For the first time, the American people and all political parties are finally paying attention to the threat that Russia poses.”
Representative Adam Schiff of California, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee spoke Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” He said, “Were there U.S. persons who were helping the Russians in any way? Was there any form of collusion? And what can we do to protect not only ourselves in the future and our allies who are facing the same Russian onslaught right now?”
