Billionaire Tom Steyer Wants Trump Gone from Office
Billionaire Tom Steyer donated more than $91 million to Democrats during the last presidential election. He has now committed $10 million in a national campaign to remove President Donald Trump from office. He has created a website: needtoimpeach.com where people can sign the petition. Presently more than 600,000 people have signed.
Billionaire Tom Steyer Founded NextGen America
Steyer founded a political organization, NextGen America, which is devoted to prevent climate disaster, promote prosperity, and protect the fundamental rights of every American. He founded the organization in 2013. He presently lobbies for candidates who support climate action. The organization has recently added to their menu of interests including supporting climate action, fighting for immigrant rights, affordable health care, prosperity and equality.
Steyer created his wealth with Farallon Capital. This has been a very successful hedge fund – so successful, in fact, that he turned $8 million into $30 billion over a period of 20 years. In his earlier years he graduated first in his class from Phillips Exeter Academy and summa cum laude from Yale. He then attended Stanford business school followed by a two-year stint at Goldman Sachs.
The impeachment campaign apparently attracted the ire of President Trump today. The president responded, via Twiter, of course, “Wacky & totally unhinged Tom Steyer, who has been fighting me and my Make America Great Again agenda from the beginning, never wins elections!”
Steyer wrote, “We must stop Trump now. Trump’s team and family members continually lie about their dealings with Russia. Trump has discussed pardoning his aides, family members and even himself. Trump threatens our national security by refusing to stand up to Russia and engaging in brinkmanship with North Korea.” He continued by writing, “Donald Trump has brought us to the brink of nuclear war, obstructed justice and taken money from foreign governments. We need to impeach this dangerous president.”
Trump and Steyer continued their war of words in Twitter. Following Trump’s Twitter Steyer tweeted, “You’re right about one thing, Mr. Trump, I have been fighting your racism and corporate groveling from the beginning and always will. Americans deserve much better. Americans across the board know you’re a danger to the people of this country.”
