Anthony Joshua Fights for His Future
Anthony Joshua, having an unbeaten record in all of his professional fights added one more to his win column. The 27-year-old, bloodied and battered, gave a final blow to 41-year-old contender, Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round. Some claimed the fight was the greatest Wembley has ever seen. After being felled from a right cross in the sixth – a cross that would have knocked-out most boxers, the champ, dazed, fought on to his dramatic conclusion.
The 11th Round Ends it for Klitschko
Klitschko used everything he knew and had accumulated during his 68 fights during his 11-year stretch. Joshua’s uppercut to the Ukrainian’s jaw nearly floored him. This, followed by a left hook and a grazing right put him down for a count and Joshua went for the kill. He gave him a left hook yet Klitschko managed to get up for more.
Following his win Joshua said, “Massive respect to Klitschko. He’s a role model in and out of the ring and I’ve got nothing but love and respect for anyone who steps in the ring. London, I love you. Can I go home now?” In response Klitschko said, “The best man won. It’s really sad I didn’t make it tonight. But all respect to Anthony.”
The more than 90,000 spectators, at Wembley, had the privilege of sharing a moment that Wladimir Klitschko has long dreaded.
